Land and natural resource conflicts in Indonesia are always developing and very dynamic. To strengthen the capacity of mediators to face this challenges, CRU works with various partners to develop and implement varius learning activities such as basic mediator training, intermediate mediator training and inviting selected junior mediators to participate in an mediator internship program.
The various capacity building activities developed by CRU will synergistically build a foundation for the creation of a pool of mediators that are geographically spread in Indonesia. The pool of mediators are a key element in the strategy for developing an independent and sustainable conflict resolution institution.
The availability of reliable mediators who can work together with the parties is a prerequisite to build public trust in mediation as an effective and efficient option to resolve land and natural resource conflicts.
